How it works.

Set a daily goal and an active window (eg 9am–8pm). Every minute Pacer computes your on-pace target — a moving line from 0 at your start time to your goal at your end time. The delta between your actual steps and that target is your dashboard, your complication, your nudge.

Perfect for.

Why I built it

I kept blowing past 7pm at 4,000 steps without realizing. Activity Rings showed me the damage at midnight, by which point dinner was over and the rings stayed broken. I wanted something that told me at 2pm “you’re behind by 800 steps right now” — early enough that a 15-minute walk could fix it. So I built Pacer. It’s closed source, paid once, with no analytics on you. You can get it on the App Store.

Questions.

What is Pacer?

Pacer is a watchOS-only step tracker that shows whether you’re ahead or behind your daily step goal in real time, not at end of day. It spreads your goal across your active hours and surfaces a live ahead/behind number on a watch-face complication.

How is Pacer different from Apple’s Activity Rings?

Activity Rings show your step total at end of day. Pacer shows whether you are ahead or behind your goal right now, mid-day, so you can correct course while there is still time.

Does Pacer collect any data?

No. Pacer collects nothing. HealthKit step counts stay on your watch — no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no third-party SDKs.

What devices support Pacer?

Pacer runs on Apple Watch with watchOS 26.2 or later. It is watch-only — there is no iPhone companion app.

Stop checking at 10pm.
